Motlopi coffee (100g)

Motlopi Coffee is made from wild harvested Boscia albitrunca roots. This unique coffee-like brew, originating from the shepherd's tree (Afrikaans: Witgat, Sotho: Mohlôpi, Tswana: Motlôpi, Venda: Muvhombwe, Xhosa: Umgqomogqomo, Zulu: Umvithi), is an essential beverage in Botswana. The Tree of Life, as it is commonly known, provides sustenance in the dry regions of southern Africa. Experience the traditional flavors of Motlopi Coffee, carefully roasted to perfection with a slightly burnt edge and smoky aroma. Its deep dark brown color sets the stage for a rich and flavorful alternative coffee experience that is 100% caffeine free.

Brewing instructions:

Depending on how strong you would like to make it start with either one of the below:

  • 1 heaped teaspoon per cup will create a light, delicate flavor perfect for "coffee tasting"
  • 1 heaped tablespoon per cup will brew a rich strong flavored cup of Motlopi coffee

For optimal results, utilize a French press, Chemex, or pour over method, paired with your preferred warm foamed milk or alternative option. Due to its natural sweetness, minimal amounts of sugar, sweetener, or honey may be added to your brew.
